Overview[]

Blacklight: Tango Down is a game developed for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC by Zombie Studios and published by Ignition Entertainment. In this military shooter set 25 years in the future, you play as members of an elite covert ops.

The gameplay is similar to that of Call of Duty 4, where customization is extremely important. You can customize everything from your personal appearance to your weaponry. Taking another page from the Modern Warfare series is the leveling system, which goes up to Rank 70. The game was released in Summer 2010 at a price point of $15. For a period of time it was reduced to 4.99 as a sale price on Steam until its popularity was no more leaving the selling price at 0.99 and remained there until its delisting. Zombie Inc. had also announced plans to bring this product into film and comic books. The weapon customization is very in depth and detailed, with the ability to change anything from the magazine, to the stock and color of your weapon. All of the weapons are based around those used by solders since the 1960's and are grounded in reality. Weapon Tags are also available, and with the amount of customization, no weapon you pick up will be the same as your own, with one of the most robust and huge customization tools seen in a military shooter. The Hyper Reality Visor also played a large role in defining the game from just a copy of Call or Duty. Though appearing very different from the sequel game, it functioned much the same giving the player view of players positions for a short time. You can also reference the games History.

Story and Background[]

In the near-future, the Blacklight: Tango team has been sent to find recently missing Colonel Klein and his personal Blacklight team in the city of Balik. The country had recently broken out in war after the assassination of its president. The rebel group that had killed the president, The Order, is thought to have captured or killed the missing Blacklight team.

They prepare to attack the Order's headquarters when Blacklight Command informs them that the civilians have been infected with an unknown virus, causing them to attack everyone they encounter. As they engage the Order in combat, both sides are attacked by crazed civilians. Because the circumstances have changed, they are ordered to stop The Order at all costs and to Restore a Corrupt world.

Gameplay[]

All of the game is fully functional (with some install effort). Blacklight: Tango Down has a PVE mode BlackOps and can be played solo or with 4 players total. The PVP mode is fully functional and supported by Peer to Peer connection, just so long as there are players to join in. See Maps to see all of the 12 PVP maps and Modes to see the different ways to play. All gameplay is heavily influenced by the Hyper Reality Visor and is the main focus on how the game is played.

Community[]

Blacklight: Tango Down if owned is still fully playable on PC as it uses Peer to Peer connection. There still exists a small group of players as of 2022 that plays the game still. See the Discord here BLTD Community for more information.
